Alex turns 5

Five years ago this big bundle of joy came into our lives.  Over the last 5 years Alex has revealed his humorous ways, loving and caring spirit and his intensity for all things sports.  That mop of curly hair, so unruly and cute makes me smile.  That sweet way his says "I love you" always brightens my day and fills my heart to overflowing.  Our baby is no longer a baby.  He started reading this year, attending our homeschool co-op.  He started Karate classes and on his birthday had his first T-Ball practice, he was beyond stoked.  We decided to go with a theme for his 5th birthday, pirates.  The table was decked out in all things pirates.  Once again, he received a # shirt with his name.  I can't resist and I will only be able to do this for so long before he catches on.  Later in the week we took the whole family on a pirate ship and had a wonderful experience dressing up, singing and fighting Black Beard for treasure.  Our town is definitely not short of anything pirate.  We actually have an new elementary school in our neighborhood and their mascot is a pirate.  Overall, Alex had a fabulous day!  My big boy is 5!

We had our neighborhood kids over to sing happy birthday and open presents.

My Little Super Hero!

Sick

Two weeks ago our family got hit with a highly contagious stomach virus.  Alex started the drama on Tuesday and it quickly spread to the rest of the family.  Matthew was the last to join in on Saturday and it hit him the worst.  Here are the boys on Saturday afternoon taking a nap after a long week of nastiness.

Easter 2012

Here are some pictures that we took on Easter Sunday.  We enjoyed family time at home after a lovely church service.  We had our friends Pat and Channi over to enjoy the delicious meal of lamb, orzo and asparagus that Chef Greg prepared.  It was a blessed day celebrating the resurrection of our Lord and Savior.

I Wanna Dance With Somebody!

Weekend Fun! I just discovered this singer/song writer, Ben Rector. He has put together his version of the Whitney Houston classic, I Wanna Dance With Somebody. This was one of my favorites growing up and now I am loving Ben's version as well. Enjoy!

January & February Quick Recap

January I celebrated my birthday. It was a day filled with no cooking by me. A lovely lunch with two dear friends. Individual Snicker-doodle cheese cake cups (my request, thanks to Pinterest). Gifts & a trip to Orland to see the Orlando Magic play the Boston Celtics. It was a great day!
February we visited our adopted Grandma Ann for a belated Valentine's day celebration.
Last week I took the kids to a local gourmet popsicle shop for a treat. I enjoyed riesling & peach, yum! Then we walked up and down St. George Street.
While walking we discovered a magic shop and got to see a magic show. They can't stop talking about it.

{this moment} - A Friday ritual. A single photo - no words - capturing a moment from the week. A simple, special, extraordinary moment. A moment I want to pause, savor and remember.

Happy New Year!

I know, I know it has been forever since my last post. To start off right I will begin updating you on all the happenings in chronological order. These photo were taken down south when we went to visit my family for New Year's and a late Christmas. God blessed us with such a gorgeous day to take these shots.

Here are just six of the nine grandkids. They say Alex and his cousin Nate (far left) look very much alike, with their curly hair and all.
By far my favorite shot.

I love this picture of Greg, my BIL Chris and my Dad! Great lighting!
I plan to post more soon.
Happy March!
