A Precious Gift

A few days before Christmas we received a large package. It contained cookies, candies and lots of goodies. The boys were not interested in all the treats but had a great time with the box. Seeing them in the box reminded me of the verse "Children are a gift from the Lord; they are a reward from him." (Psalm 127:3 NLT). We hope you all had a Merry Christmas.

Alex is 15 months old today! Here he is standing but not walking yet!
Wednesday, Gabby and Mommy went to go see The Moscow Ballet group perform the Russian Nutcracker. We had dinner and then went to the ballet. It was a great girls night out.

Reindeer Run

Can you hear the bells jingling? It's the runners in the Reindeer Run. Saturday the entire Davis clan participated in a 1.5 mile run prior to the St. Augustine Christmas Parade. We actually ran the parade route. This was Gabby's first official race and she did AWESOME! She ran the whole way. Mommy pushed the boys in the jogging stroller while Gabby and Daddy ran side by side. Gabby was a natural. She showed such athleticism out there on the open road. She was so pleased with her accomplishment, and so were we. Here are some pictures from the race.

Chatting on the Phone

This evening I was able to capture on camera Alex talking on the phone with Greg. He was having a long conversation with Daddy all in his baby talk of course. I thought I would share them with all of you. There just too cute!

12.2.08 One Year Later

Here is a recent picture of Gabby, Alex & Matthew. Yesterday, I posted about being "TAGGED". My 4th photo folder and the 4th picture happened to be of the kids exactly one year ago. So, I thought it would be a cute idea to take a picture of them in the same position and location. This year Alex was not being cooperative and Matthew actually smiled. I believe Alex is crying and laughing, hence the funny looking face!

Update on Alex

Alex wearing his new monkey hat and matching mittens. Too cute!

My little fella is not doing so well. After a whole week of fever, runny nose, congestion and coughing I finally took him to the doctor yesterday, the prognosis...double ear infection. Poor boy! He is now taking amoxicillin and some eye drops. His right eye started swelling and turning red on Sunday. Please be praying for Alex for a quick healing and recovery from these ear infections.

PS Publix Pharmacy will fill amoxicillin for FREE!

Baby & The Grandkids!

My parents came for a surprise visit several weeks ago and here is my favorite picture from our time together. All of the grandchildren call my Mom "Baby". We love and miss you Baby and Abuelito very much!

I've Been Tagged...

While reading my sweet friend Dana's Blog, and seeing the adorable picture she posted I realized at the end of her post I was being TAGGED! So, I am sure you are wondering what that means. The instructions for this tag are to pick the 4th picture folder on your computer; choose and post the 4th picture; explain the picture; and tag 4 other people to participate. Here it goes:

This picture was taken on December 2nd 2007. I just realized tomorrow will be a year since this picture was taken. I had the kids laying on our bed and wanted to take a picture of all of them since Alex was awake and cooperative. Alex is a little over 2 months old here. As you can see Matthew dose not look so happy. He was not interested in taking anymore pictures. Oh, how they have grown since then.

So now I tag...

1. Pam England

2. Mellany Kelly

3. Kate Davis

4. Lauren E. Sykes

Turkey Fest 2008

Oddly enough, the turkeys were noticeably absent from today's annual Turkey Fest at Mandarin Christian School. Allison ran in the 1 mile Fun Run with several of her Stroller Fit Moms. Alex participated in this event as well, and had the best seat in the race, sitting in the stroller while Mommy was pushing him at a 9-minute mile clip. After the race the kids bounced around in the huge inflatiable slides and obstacle courses. Then they tried their hand at the standard carnie games. We all had a great time and enjoyed being in the cooler weather.

Ah, we found him! The only cool jive turkey at Turkey Fest. Alex looks pretty relaxed as Allison approaches the finish line.

Happy 4th Birthday Matthew!

Matthew celebrated his 4th birthday yesterday. For lunch he wanted to go Five Guys and get his favorite, grilled cheese. For his cake he wanted a Harley Davidson cake, the one with the flames. I think he enjoyed playing with the motorcycle then eating the actual cake. Overall, Matthew had a great day and received so many wonderful gifts. Happy Birthday Bud!

The MacDonald's in St. Augustine

Sue, Shaila and Dan MacDonald

We were so glad to have our friends Dan & Sue MacDonald from Toronto visit us last week. Their beautiful new daughter, Shaila, obviouly stole our hearts. What a sweetheart! Dan & Sue have made such a lasting impact our family's life and they've blessed Greg & I as an example of a Godly couple.

Dan, Sue and Shaila we love and miss you all very much. God bless you in your ministry and calling to the people of Toronto.

Cloth Diapers

Bum Genius 3.0

We have made the switch! Out with old and in with the new...sort of. We are now using cloth diapers. Now, I must say that there have been major improvements over the years, so for those of you who have not laid eyes on cloth diapers in the last 10 to 15 years, strap on your seat belt. We are using two types of cloth diapers. The first you might be familiar with, are Chinese (unbleached) pre-folds. I use these along with a "snappi" which has now replaced pins and a cover called "Thirsties". The other type of cloth diaper we use is called the Bum Genius 3.0. These are AWESOME! They are similar to disposable diapers. They have a cloth insert and can be used from infant to a 30 pound baby or toddler. I love them!

I purchased the majority of the cloth diapers from Cotton Babies but I have also purchased the Bum Genius 3.0 from Target. Yes, Target is selling them! I have really enjoyed doing this, not only for Alex but for the enviornment as well. I have read that a disposable diaper can take up to 500 years to decompose. Just imagine the number of diapers ONE baby/toddler goes through. That's a lot of stinky garbage laying around and for a long time.

You might be thinking, what about the time washing or the cost of purchasing and washing cloth diapers? We considered those things and we are glad we have done it. I wash every other day...but hey, at least I don't have to go beat them against rock down by the river...and Alex helps as well (see below). Furthermore, within a few months the cloth diapers have paid for themselves.

Gabby's New Bible

Gabby received a bible from Mommy and Daddy on her 6Th Birthday. She was so excited! Her brothers took her to the christian book store to pick out a cover for her bible. She takes her bible to church on Sundays and loves to read along when the scripture is read. She likes to read the bible verses when we do our family devotionals. Right now she is able to read Genesis 1:1 and the first three verses of Psalm 100 all by herself. There is joy in my heart when I see how excited she is to read God's word and to hear her read it.

Alex & Ice Cream

Here is Alex enjoying some ice cream for the first time.

Greg's New Ride...

...for the day. Despite his self-admitted addiction to speed, he rented a Corvette for the day. He rents a car each time he travels out of town and on Wednesday he upgraded for free while the kids and I were there to witness him in all his glory. We dropped him off around 7am while the kids were still in their pjs. They thought it was pretty rad when Daddy reved the engine and sped off into the sun rise.

Needless to say, but I will anyway, Greg said he had a great day and it was all because of his new ride. He is actually considering a Corvette now...champagne taste, beer pockets!
